NCSBN has been made aware that some individuals have received telephone calls from persons falsely claiming to be NCSBN staff or law enforcement. These scam phone calls have “spoofed” NCSBN telephone numbers, and therefore appear to originate from NCSBN. We have been told that the tone of these calls may be hostile, and in some cases scammers have falsely claimed that a specific action is needed to prevent a nursing license from becoming suspended. We understand that these incidents are similar to recent scam calls targeting other organizations.

As a reminder, NCSBN will never call a nurse, nurse applicant or anyone else requesting personal information. Please be wary of these scam calls and do not provide personal information over the phone to anyone you do not know or trust.

NCSBN Nursys and the Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Agency (LARA) are actively working on getting Michigan licensee data updated in Nursys. In the meantime, we recommend that institutions and nurses go directly to the Michigan LARA website for all information regarding Michigan licenses including verification for endorsement requests. Once data issues with Michigan are resolved, license data will again appear on Nursys.com and Nursys e-Notify notifications will return to normal function. Nursys e-Notify Nurse accounts for self-enrolled nurses licensed in Michigan may be unavailable.

Maps for RN and LPN/VN (PN) nurses now provide a visual overview of the Nursys participating states where that nurse currently has authorization to practice. Here is an easy step-by-step guide to finding them.

When a license has additional information that should be reviewed including if that license has or had discipline, "(see history)" will appear along with the current license status description. Details of the board action or other message/notification are provided just below the license information. Final Order/Discipline details will be collapsed by default. Just click the blue/green bar where it says “See History” to view them.

Yes. Nursys contains nurse license and discipline information that is provided by Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) and non-compact jurisdictions.

Please note that only license and discipline information from Nursys QuickConfirm License Verification Boards of Nursing are available through Nursys QuickConfirm License Verification.

Nursys QuickConfirm License Verification Boards of Nursing send scheduled updates of information to Nursys. The date of the last data submission is available for each Nursys QuickConfirm License Verification Boards of Nursing.

You may download the QuickConfirm License Verification Report to your desktop. Click the download report button then save the file.

If you are using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) and are still unable to access this website, you may need to adjust security settings:

1. In IE, click the Tools symbol (gear) and then, click Internet Options.
2. On the Advanced tab, under Settings, scroll down to the Security section.
3. Locate the Use SSL and Use TLS options and uncheck Use SSL 3.0, Use SSL 2.0 and Use TLS 1.0.
4. Check Use TLS 1.1 and Use TLS 1.2, if they are not already selected.
5. Click Apply and then, click OK.

All information on Nursys comes directly from the boards of nursing. It is the nurse's responsibility to contact the board of nursing to update their information.

A QuickConfirm License Verification Report contains the following information:

• Discipline Against Privilege to Practice in Compact states

A compact jurisdiction is a state that participates in a nurse licensure compact. The Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) is an agreement establishing reciprocal licensing arrangements between member states for registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical or vocational nurses (LPN/VNs).

With regard to boards of nursing, jurisdiction refers to the state or territory that the board of nursing regulates. Most boards of nursing regulate all license types for nurses within their state or territory. California, Louisiana and West Virginia have separate boards of nursing to regulate Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses.

A single state license authorizes the nurse to practice only in the state that issued the license.

If the nurse's home state is a member of a nurse licensure compact they may have a multi-state license. A multi-state license authorizes the nurse to practice in the other states that are members of that compact unless that privilege is otherwise restricted.

A Nursys QuickConfirm License Verification Board of Nursing is a board of nursing that allows the public to view their license and discipline information in Nursys.

QuickConfirm License Verification is an online tool used by employer groups and the public to look up nurse licenses.

Employer groups and/or the general public will access Nursys and complete the QuickConfirm License Verification process to receive a detailed QuickConfirm License Verification Report.

Only licenses from Nursys QuickConfirm License Verification Boards of Nursing are available.

This service is free of charge to employers and the public.

QuickConfirm License Verification allows the public to quickly see the status of a license and any associated discipline information it may have. Nurse License Verification for Endorsement is the official process of requesting a license verification for endorsement to be sent to the state board of nursing for the purpose of getting a new license in that state. Board of Nursing receives a detailed official license verification for endorsement report.

All participating boards of nursing provide their data in Nursys for lookup by employers and the general public via QuickConfirm License Verification; however, they have the option of not participating in the online Nurse License Verification for Endorsement to another state. If your board of nursing is not listed in the Nursys participating board of nursing under Nurse License Verification for Endorsement, please contact your board of nursing to request license verification for endorsement.

There may be several reasons why the nurse was not located in Nursys.

Only licenses from Nursys QuickConfirm License Verification Boards of Nursing are available for this service.

If the nurse is newly licensed, their information will be forwarded to Nursys from their licensing board of nursing as the board submits their licensure updates to Nursys.

Only Advanced Practice licenses from Nursys Advanced Practice Participating Boards of Nursing are available for this service. Contact the board of nursing of the licensing jurisdiction if lookup is needed for Advanced Practice licenses.

Make sure that you typed the nurse's name or license number correctly. If the nurse has an older license, their license information may not be in Nursys.
